Hi @Jkubicek46,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for providing the printer model, operating system, and details of what happened after installing the HP ink cartridge. I understand that you have already cleaned the cartridge and reinstalled the paper, but the printer is still showing the E error.
For the HP DeskJet 4155e, please try the following steps:
- Turn on the printer and wait until it is idle.
- Remove the newly installed ink cartridge.
- Check the cartridge for any remaining protective tape or packaging material. Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.
- Check inside the cartridge area for any obstruction or pieces of packing material.
- Reinstall the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.
- Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray.
- Close the cartridge access door completely.
- Turn the printer off, wait about 60 seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Check whether the E error is still displayed.
Since you are using macOS 26.0 Tahoe, please also make sure the printer is set up through the current HP App rather than HP Smart.

One important point: if the printer continues to show the E error after these steps, please let me know exactly what the printer's lights are doing (for example, whether the Power, Ink, Resume, or Wi-Fi light is blinking) and, if possible, share a clear photo of the printer showing the E error and the lights.
That will help me identify the specific error condition and provide the correct next steps rather than having you repeat unnecessary troubleshooting.
Take care and have an amazing day!
