HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer

Our printer is blinking yellow/orange on the front top right corner. I had to force open the top to access the ink cartridges, which should have plenty of ink in them, and there is an E0 error blinking.  How do I fix?

Hi @plgret

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E0 error on your HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer typically indicates an issue related to the ink cartridges, or the printer is having trouble recognizing them. Since you've already checked that the ink cartridges have plenty of ink, let’s walk through some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Steps to Fix the E0 Error on HP ENVY 6055e:

1. Turn Off and Restart the Printer

  • Power off your printer by pressing the Power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on again.
  • Sometimes a simple restart can clear temporary errors.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door again, and carefully remove both ink cartridges.
  • Inspect the cartridges for any protective plastic tape or shipping locks that may have been left on the cartridges. These need to be removed before installation.
  • Check the contacts on both the ink cartridges and inside the printer. The metal contacts on the cartridges should be clean and free of debris or ink build-up.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges carefully, making sure they are seated properly and securely in place.

3. Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts

  • Use a soft lint-free cloth or cotton swab slightly dampened with water or rubbing alcohol to clean the metal contacts on the ink cartridges and the printer’s cartridge holder.
  • Let everything dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.

4. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and ensure there are no paper jams inside. Even small bits of paper can cause an issue.
  • Check both the input tray and the output tray for any stuck paper.

5. Perform a Printer Reset

  • If the above steps don’t work, try performing a reset of the printer.
  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds to ensure the printer resets completely.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • If the printer still shows the E0 error, try updating the printer firmware. Go to the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your model.
  • You can also use the HP Smart App to check for updates and install the latest firmware.

7. Replace the Ink Cartridges

  • If the error persists, even after cleaning the cartridges and ensuring everything is properly installed, you might have a defective cartridge or one that is incompatible with the printer.
  • Consider replacing the ink cartridges with new, compatible ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
