I have an HP2700 printer with an E3 error that will not clear. I have changed the cartridges. There are no jams. I have turned off and on. I have uninstalled and re-installed. Nothing! The error comes on as soon as I plug the cable back in. Is it worth buying a new one? The printer is only3 years old.

Hi @Sutts17,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the the E3 error on HP printers typically indicates a problem with the ink cartridges or the printer’s internal mechanisms. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue further:
Check Ink Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly and are seated properly in their slots. Sometimes, even a slightly misaligned cartridge can trigger an error.
Clean the Contacts: Gently clean the metal contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts in the printer with a lint-free cloth. Make sure there's no residue or dust that could interfere with the connection.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Try a Different USB Port/Cable: If you’re connecting via USB, try a different port on your computer or a different cable, if available.
Check for Internal Issues: Since you've mentioned there are no jams, it might be worth checking if there are any loose parts inside the printer. If you're comfortable, you can gently open the printer and inspect for any visible issues.

Thank you for your reply but I tried all these with no luck. I even tried web chat which was u helpful. In the end I took it to a local repair shop and apparently the scanner board had gone so the printer has gone to the recycling centre and I've purchased an Epson.
