My printer shows an E5 code, there’s no paper jam, cleaned cartridges area. Restarted router and printer. It’s connected but won’t stay connected to wifi. Phone recognizes printer but red lights flashing both X and paper down arrow are lit up.
my printer is HP deskjet 2755e

Hi @Margie888,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand the E5 error on your DeskJet 2755e can be frustrating. That code usually means a cartridge problem (either not detected, incompatible, or not seated properly).

Power Reset

With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.

Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and restart.

Check Cartridges

Open the printer, remove both cartridges.

Gently clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.

Let dry, then firmly reinstall cartridges until they click.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

The 2755e only supports HP 67 / 67XL cartridges.

If you’re using third-party or refilled cartridges, they may trigger the E5 error.

Update Printer Firmware

Open the HP Smart app → Settings → Advanced Settings → check for updates.

Test Print

Print a test page from the HP Smart app.

If the error clears, reconnect Wi-Fi using the app.

I hope this helps.
