HP ENVY 5030 All-in-One Printer

Hello

I’ve cancelled Instant Ink a few weeks or so ago after being informed that my tier was about to become more expensive and would include fewer pages.

Then I bought a legit HP retail package of b/w and color cartridges (type 304) and have been unsuccessful to print ever since.

No matter if I want to print from a phone or a computer at first it sounds like the printer would print (normal mechanical noise). But then it stops and shows an error message in the printer‘s display about the cartridges not communicating properly with the printer.

I’ve reinserted the cartridges multiple times after cleaning the contacts, reset the printer to factory defaults and added it to my network again but it only printed one thing afterwards - the network config page you can request on the printer itself. Print jobs that are sent from computer or phone lead to the aforementioned error message.

All apps and drivers are up to date. The printer is up to date as well. At least it tells me so when I try to update it. According to the page it printed the firmware version is VERBASPP1N003.2237A.00

The printer‘s serial number can be found in my profile.

Can anybody please help me get printing again? I’d hate to give this otherwise perfectly working printer to recycling.

 Thanks!

Hi @TA701,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your frustration with your HP ENVY 5030 All-in-One Printer not printing with retail cartridges after canceling Instant Ink.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the issue:

1. Double-check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure the purchased retail cartridges are HP originals and compatible with your HP ENVY 5030 printer. Verify the cartridge model number (304) on the HP website or packaging to confirm compatibility.

2. Remove and Reinsert Cartridges:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their designated slots, making sure they click into place.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

3. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

4. Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If the issue persists, consider the possibility of a hardware malfunction with the printer or the cartridges.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure your computer or phone is connected to the same network as the printer.
  • Reinstall the HP printer software and drivers on your computer. You can download the latest versions from the HP website for your specific printer model.
  • Try printing a test page directly from the printer:
    • On the printer control panel, navigate to Settings > Reports and select Print Test Page.

I hope this helps.
