ENVY 6034 printer won't respond to power switch or display control panel lights. Has a constant pulsating greenish/white light bar as is shown as offline. HP Smart can see it but not access it.

Hi @7018_TAS,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting a pulsating green/white light bar on your HP ENVY 6034e All-in-One Printer typically indicates that the printer is attempting to connect or is in a state of initialization. Since the printer is unresponsive to the power switch and the control panel lights remain off, it seems to be stuck in this state.
Here are some steps to resolve the issue:
1. Perform a Power Reset
- Disconnect the Power Cord:
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 2–3 Minutes:
- Allow the printer to fully power down.
- Reconnect the Power Cord:
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
- Turn On the Printer:
- Press the power button to see if the printer becomes responsive.
2. Check the Network ConnectionTroubleshoot a Wi-Fi connection to an HP printer
- Ensure your printer is connected to the correct WiFi network.
- Restart your router by unplugging it for 2–3 minutes and plugging it back in.
- Once the router restarts, observe the light bar on your printer:
- Solid blue light indicates a successful connection to WiFi.
3. Perform a Factory Reset
If the printer remains unresponsive:
- Locate the Reset Button Combination:
- On many HP ENVY models, this involves holding the WiFi button and the Power button together or another button sequence. (Refer to the user manual for specifics.)
- Follow the steps to reset the printer to its factory settings.
4. Update or Reinstall HP Smart
If HP Smart sees the printer but cannot access it:
- Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app.
- Add the printer again using the app and follow the setup instructions.
5. Verify Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
If the printer powers on:
- Check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website to ensure the printer's software is up to date.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks GAYA1239 ..
Yes, those are steps I'd seen elsewhere and had been through a number of times. Sometimes it would respond, mostly it wouldn't :(.
In the end I gave up and considered it was the price I'd paid for getting the cheapest HP printer. The lack of a display panel and having to go to the manual to remind myself what the flashing light bar was telling me was just too tedious.
It'll now become ewaste. My choice was a CANON with a display panel and buttons. Out of the box it just worked. 🙂
Again, thanks for taking the time to respond.
