ENVY 7155
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

ENVY 7155 all-in-one:  symptoms:  1) as soon as it is plugged in, the unit comes on, screen displays "HP" logo and blue progress bar reaches right end,  but gets stuck on 1st blue dot. 2)  the Power button has no effect, even if I hold it down for > 10 seconds: i.e., the logo screen remains.  3) the only way to make any change is to PHYSICALLY UNPLUG IT!!!  4) When I plug it back in, {see #1}!!!

It behaves this way whether it is hard-wired to a PC, or networked (although I infer it never gets far enough @ start-up to check this...)

I hope there is an easy fix for this (like externally-applied factory reset), 'cuz i have a considerable investment in INK for this device.  Can a re-boot or diagnostics be run from a SIM card installed behind the "porthole"?  where would I get one of those?

Anxiously awaiting ADVICE .....

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your HP printer is not working correctly, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried updating the printer firmware?
  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your Printer prior to the issue?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here
And, also update printer firmware: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps!

i downloaded the "scan and print doctor", and fired it up.  i attached the printer directly to my laptop via usb cable.

The diagnostic software finds the printer and notes it is "installed", after a minute or so of trying, the SW gives up trying to successfully communicate with the printer.

This behavior does not surprise me, since, as I noted in my OP, the printer never completes its POWER ON SELF TEST, and goes inert once the blue progress bar finishes; and only the first blue dot is lit.  The printer does not make any mechanical noises...

So, if I can't get it to communicate over a hard-wire, and the POWER button has no effect, what other ways are there to address its problems?  As I speculated in my OP, is there an OVERRIDE or BOOTSTRAP capability thru the front end port?

I look forward to a reply that is more responsive to the symptoms I'e described here and in my OP.

Thanks

I appreciate your effort!
This seems like hardware related issue with the printer.
