First, I'll mention that I have fixed the problem, but not by following the instructions in an HP Support article. More about that in a moment. I was printing on my HP Envy Inspire 7900-series from my MacBook Pro 2016, running macOS Monterey.
A small print job got stuck this morning, and I noticed some sort of error message on my printer settings. "Encryption Credentials Have Expired." That was a new one to me. I clicked on the little info button, which led me to this HP Support web page. I carefully followed the instructions—I went to my printer's IP address and got into the EWS. I then clicked on the Network tab >> Advanced Settings, but I did not see "Certificates." I did see this—
I use Parallels and Windows 10, so I tried the same steps in the Edge browser, with the exact same results. I fixed the problem by resetting my MacBook's printing system. That was a quick, simple, and easy fix—nothing as complicated, frustrating, and useless as the procedures laid out in the HP Support article. I just thought I'd share this experience with other users.

Hi @E9Luke,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering a message that says "HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-In-One Printer Encryption Credentials Have Expired," it might indicate an issue with the printer's security settings or encryption protocols. Encryption credentials are typically used to secure communication between devices and ensure that sensitive information is transmitted securely.
Here's what you could try to address this issue.
- Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor glitches. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Manufacturers often release firmware updates to address security vulnerabilities and improve device functionality.
- Reconfigure Network Settings: If the printer is connected to a network, try reconfiguring its network settings. Make sure it's properly connected to the network and has a stable internet connection.
- Reset Encryption Settings: Look for an option to reset or refresh the encryption settings on the printer. This might involve accessing the printer's settings menu or web interface.
- Check for Expiry in External Services: Sometimes, printers might be integrated with external services for cloud printing or other features. If encryption credentials are used for such services, make sure that the credentials for those services are up to date.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I really appreciate your thorough and helpful reply. I'm sure you noticed that I fixed the problem by resetting my printing system (Apple's solution). Even so, I've marked your reply at the solution, if only because one or more of your suggestions would likely have fixed the problem.
My purpose in my original post was simply to vent a little. We all get annoyed when a manufacturer's web page tells you what you'll see when you follow their instructions, only to find something different from what we've been led to expect. The page tells us that these instructions apply specifically to the Mac, but the menus failed to deliver on the promise. Oh, well—it's happened lots of times. Thanks again for your information!
