HP ENVY 4502 e-All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

So, my trusty HP Envy 4502 seems to have bitten the dust, with a "ERROR CODE OX830000A NOS_LOADER_APP" flashing back at me from the handy-dandy LCD screen.

Having affected all sorts of Rube Golberg methods to keep this thing going, is it safe to say that it's formally bitten the dust?

Any suggestions for a replacement?

Thank you,

Hi @HappyYet,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that has an error code.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day

Hello Irwin6!

Thank you for addressing the error message I am dealing with.

Unfortunately, the steps you put forth are almost identical to some other postings about dealing with this error, every variation of which I have tried, and every variation to no avail.

I tried to follow your steps, but one cannot remove the print cartridges as the carriage "rests" in a position that makes the cartridges inaccessible. I fear that forcing the carriage would not be a good idea.

Since the printer is basically dead while the error message is flashing, it is not seen as a device, thus any firmware update is out of the question.

I appreciate your effort to provide a solution!
