Envy 4520 - won't print a5 format

I'm trying to print invitations on A5 size paper - my OS is mac Sierra - I have the printer set up for 5x7 printing and it will not print out the full image.  A majority of the time I can hear the ink cartridges moving back and forth but the paper comes out completely blank.  Sometimes it prints all put 2 inches of the document, sometimes only the last line (at the top of the page for some reason) or some amount inbetween.

Hello Witty,

If you have A5 paper loaded in the paper tray (the main tray), why don't you set the printer to A5 in the Print Dialog.  Get back if you need help finding that.   Assume the A5 size paper is normal weight, not thicker/heavier. 

Here are the specs (from HP.com) for the 4520, for your use.  Notice there is a custom setting, which I can elaborate on if interested.  

Media sizes supported A4; A5; B5; DL; C6; A6

Media sizes, custom 3 x 5 to 8.5 x 14 in

Media types Plain paper; Photo paper; Brochure Paper

Recommended media weight 20 lb

Supported media weight 16 to 24 lb

Media weights by paper path A4: 64 to 90 g/m²; HP envelopes: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP cards: up to 200 g/m²; HP 10 x 15 cm photo paper: up to 250 g/m²

There are other problems relating to blank pages and partial pages being printed, so get back here if you still have that problem.  Place at least 10 sheets in the Main Tray.

As @RichAnt indicates, 5" x 7" is not the same size as the international A5 paper size.

• A5 paper size is 148 mm x 210 mm (5.827" x 8.267")
• 5x7 paper size is 127 mm x 177.8 mm (5.0" x 7.0")
