HP ENVY 4527
Android 6.0 - 6.0.1 Marshmallow

I've bought an Envy 4527 and it works fine with the Android HP Smart app when the phone is on my home WiFi network.

However, if I'm away from home WiFi on another network or 4g, the app is unusable as it can't see the printer. The app shows the message "Get started by adding a printer."

The HP website says that this printer is compatible with the Print Anywhere service which I take to mean that this app should work over any internet connection.

Perhaps I've missed changing a setting on my router, or is the Envy 4527 only usable via the email xxx@hpeprint.com service when away from the printer's WiFi network?

The second option is correct:

  1. Print Anywhere is a form of "ePrint" and does use your HP Connected account and the printer you add to that service.
  2. This is your xxx@hpeprint.com address.
