Hi,
I needed to change my black ink cartridge in my HP Envy 5530 printer. As the alignment document printed, I noticed that the color cartridge also needed to be replaced so I interrupted the process (this may have been a bad idea) and installed a new color cartridge. When the process restarted, a proper alignment document printed but when I placed it on the glass in order to complete the process, the alignment failed. It appeared that the document could not be read and I got a message about setting the cartridges to the "default" setting whatever that meant.
I then went copy a document (in black) and, to my surprise, it came out blank. It seemed the alignment document could not be read. I thought the scanner may have been damaged but I was able to scan documents. I was able to print but the quality was poor.
I tried the following to no avail:
1. Removed cartridges and redid alignment process.
2. Unplug the printer and redid alignment process.
3. Reinstall the printer.
4. Ran clean heads process and repeat alignment.
5. Etc
I did discover that the system would copy if I used the color option.
I would appreciate some help.
Thanks.
