HP Envy 5530
Microsoft Windows XP

I have purchased the Cricut explore, and I am trying to use the "print then cut" feature.  My HP printer will not load the Cricut Printable sticker paper.  I am using the Matte brochure paper type, and best quality.  It starts to load, and then gets stuck, and gives me a paper jam error message.  I am surprised because this printer was listed as the top 2 best for this Cricut machine!  It is fairly new, and not heavily used, so the rollers shouldn't be an issue either.

Hello @spikerdoos, Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out to us. I am happy to help you 🙂

The issue that you are facing with the Envy 5530, could be caused by 2 reasons:

  1. Incorrect paper settings
  2. Media type not supported by the printer

Most likely the issue can be resolved by using the correct paper settings while printing. Try the following steps:

  • Click start – Printers & Faxes – Give a right click on the Envy 5530 and choose printing preferences.
  • Select the correct paper settings as per the paper type you are using. Paper size & paper type should be mentioned correctly.
  • Then try opening the page that you are trying to print, and again make sure the correct paper settings are selected before printing.
  • You can visit http://hp.care/2c0qNsR and also http://hp.care/2c0qka8 to get more detailed information in selecting correct paper settings.

If the above step doesn’t fix the issue, then it could be mostly because the Matte Brochure Paper type that you are using is not supported by the printer.
Note: It might be possible that you are using a Laser Matte paper, in that case, make sure you use Inkjet paper itself.

Please let me know what happens. Thanks!

Cheers 🙂

That didn't work, so I guess my printer just doesn't support the paper I am trying to use...Bummer!
