Envy 5660
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I installed a new black cartridge in my Envy 5660 printer and it will not align.  I then also installed a color cartridge and it doesn't align.  Both cartridges are new HP cartridges.

I have cleaned them with the "clean cartridge" on the "SetUp" screen on the computer and I have unplugged the computer so that it resets.  All to no avail.

I would like to know how to get these new cartridges to align.  When I print the alignment page it all appears in blue -- there is no black on the page.

This printer is no longer under warranty.

Maybe the printer is  broken?    Have you tried removing the cartridges and reinstalling them?  They easily snap in and seems to me to be straightforward.  Hopefully, the receiving tray (where you snap them in) isn't damaged.   They should automatically align properly.

You apparently haven't clicked  "align cartridges."   In the front display panel click on setup > printer maintenance and try Align Printer.

In Printer Assistant, click on Print and Scan and then Print.  (That is the default). Then click on Computer Maintenance, then  Print Diagostic Page either before or after  might be helpful.   There you also see clean and align.

You said you unplugged it.  I believe the cartridges should be out of the computer when resettiing/turning off; then reinserting after turning on.   (leaving it off for 60 seconds).

I have had no problem with the printer before putting in these new cartridges.

I have reinstalled the cartridges.  They appear to snap in just fine -- no visible problems with the receiving tray.  I have clicked "align cartridges" several times as well as cleaning them, taking them out of machine, turning it off for more than 60 seconds and reinstalling them.  Nothing seems to work.

Too bad its out of warranty; it could be defective or broken.    The cartidges could be defective, also.  Take them back for a refund/replacement.

One more thing to try (that I doubt if it corrects it) - reinstall the software for the printer.  Go to 123.HP.com and it will find your computer and download and reinstall the printer software (in the computer).

You could call HP customer support if you want to spend a lot of time.  They may be helpful.  Do you have Best Buy's Geek Squad service?  Sign up for that ($10/month) and have them look at it.  Sometimes they can't fix it.   Maybe they can try different cartridges but you not buy them?  It's one way to check the cartridges, but not cheap.
