HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer

My Envy 6000 series printer only recognizes 4x6 photo paper regardless of document settings, device settings or paper in the tray. When I hit print I can briefly see my device flash “letter” paper then it quickly changes to 4x6. I have tried numerous fixes recommended online and by HP Smart AI but nothing fixes the problem.  Even if I try to print the Info page direct from the printer or maintenance reports from HP smart, I get an E1 error for mismatched paper.  As a last resort I even did a “return to factory settings” function and that didn’t work either.  Firmware is up to date. Seems like a sensor problem, and I did clean those which also didn’t work.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Paper Size Issues with HP Envy 6000 Series Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Envy 6000 series printer is only recognizing 4x6 photo paper regardless of the paper in the tray or your settings, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Paper Size Settings in the Printer Software:

Windows:

  1. Open the HP Smart app.
  2. Click on Print Documents or Print Photos.
  3. Select the document or photo you want to print.
  4. On the print preview screen, click on More settings.
  5. Ensure that the paper size is set to Letter or the desired paper size.

macOS:

  1. Open the HP Smart app.
  2. Click on Print Documents or Print Photos.
  3. Select the document or photo you want to print.
  4. On the print preview screen, click on Show Details to open the detailed settings menu.
  5. Ensure the Paper Size is set to Letter or the correct size.

Check Paper Size Settings on the Printer:

Through the HP Smart App:

  1. Open the HP Smart app.
  2. Go to Printer Settings.
  3. Check the Paper Size and ensure it is set to Letter or the correct size.

Directly on the Printer:

  1. Navigate through the printer's control panel and ensure the Paper Size setting reflects the paper loaded in the tray.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Retry printing your document or photo.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
