The printer works fine with A4 paper but when I try to use A5 it tells me that the paper is the wrong size. I think I have done all the right things including taking out all the A4 paper and replacing with A5. Moving the paper guides into the right position either side of the paper and setting the printer properties to A5. But when I try to print I get a message telling me that the paper is the wrong size.

I would be grateful for any thoughts on this. When I remove the A5 and reset to A4 it all works fine again.

@Robolovsky, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

This model printer supports printing on A5 papers. Make sure the papers are properly loaded in the input tray, refer to - Loading Paper, Envelopes, Cards

Which app are you using to print? Try a different type of document.

Check the print settings, make sure you have selected the correct paper size.

Thanks Kumar. It suddenly dawned on me that the Word document we were trying to print was actually an A4 one. So even though we set the printer settings to A5 the document itself was the wrong size. Once I converted the document to A5 it printed fine.

A friend had another problem with the same model of printer not printing to 6x4 HP photo paper. The error message was Out of Paper even though there was plenty of paper in the machine.  In this case I asked them if the paper was the right way up and it turned out they had loaded it with the glossy side uppermost when it should have been the plain side uppermost. Once the paper was turned over it printed fine.

@Robolovsky

Glad to know that the issue is now resolved. And yes, the glossy side should be face down.

I do have one other concern regarding the 6000e printer. It frequently tells me that I'm low on paper when in fact I have quite a few sheets in the tray. I can click the message away and carry on but it is irritating to keep having this popping up. Is there a way to disable that message?
