The printer does not appear to have a setting that prints in colour; Default-Last Used-B&W all print only in black and I can't find any options to change this or to select colour.
My computer preferences print settings have a tick box to print in grayscale, but even when that box is unticked the printer still only prints in black.
When I print a test page or make a photocopy of a colour page, it does print in colour.
The cartridges - and the printer itself - are new. There are no error messages coming up anywhere.
The support "chat" tells me to click on "Resources" in the HP Smart app but there is no "Resources" button anywhere. It only seems set up for windows computers; not Macs.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the drivers and the printer.
I am using a USB cable at the moment as we are awaiting broadband installation.

@GerryElla, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to print in color from your Mac. To assist you better,
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on Mac
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
Check the print settings, refer to - HP print settings guide
If the issue persists while printing all types of documents, install the printer using the AirPrint driver (recommended)
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
Note: Select "Bonjour multifunction" under kind while installing.
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
