HI @Jdroem,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E9 error code on an HP Envy 6052 typically indicates a hardware issue, often related to the printhead or internal components. If the error persists despite trying common fixes, here’s a detailed troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the issue:

1. Basic Troubleshooting

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Open all accessible doors and remove any paper jams or obstructions. Ensure that no pieces of paper are stuck in the paper path.
  • Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly. Remove and reinsert them if necessary.
  • Look inside the printer for any foreign objects or debris that might be causing the error.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on while holding the power button for 10 seconds.
  • If your printer model supports it, perform a factory reset through the printer’s settings menu. Note that this will reset all settings to default.

3. Check Printer Components

  • If accessible, check and clean the printhead. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to clean the printhead properly.
  • Ensure that the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and not expired. If necessary, replace the cartridges with new ones.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website or use the HP Smart app to check for any firmware updates available for your printer.
  • Follow the instructions to update the firmware if an update is available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks Rachel. The printer is frozen for the most part. Printheads don’t move when the cover is opened. Resetting does nothing. Cant even connect with a USB cable.  Cant get it connected to Wifi for any updates.  At a loss.
