HP ENVY 6452e All-in-One Printer

Printer does not print black, it will either print an empty page or will print a dark blue outline filled with random blue spots. I checked cartridge levels they are fine. The only time it will print issuing black ink is for the printer report or WiFi quick start guide.

Instead of printing in black, the printer is printing pages with random blue spots and a dark blue outline. Since the cartridge levels are fine and the printer can print a report, the problem is likely related to the black ink cartridge, printhead, or a software issue.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check the Ink Cartridge Installation

Even though your ink levels are fine, it’s important to ensure the cartridge is installed correctly and making proper contact.

Steps:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the cartridge access door to reveal the ink cartridges.
  3. Remove the black ink cartridge and check for any damage or defects.
    • Ensure that there is no protective tape or plastic covers left on the cartridge or its nozzles.
    • Check the electrical contacts on the cartridge for dirt or ink residue. If necessary, gently wipe them with a dry lint-free cloth.
  4. Reinstall the cartridge and close the access door. Make sure it is seated securely.

2. Clean the Printhead

A clogged or dirty printhead could be the main culprit for this issue, especially since the printer is printing blue outlines but not black. Cleaning the printhead may help restore proper ink flow.

Steps:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device (or use the printer’s control panel if available).
