HP Envy 6555e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Envy 6555e won't print or respond to pressing cancel on touchsreen. Ran HP-Print&ScanDr, which says it installed an update and fixed queue issue. But the test page won't even print. And printer won't respond to pressing cancel on the touchscreen. Unplugged printer and plugged back in, but same things happen again when I try to print. Any ideas to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Hi @LindaCDS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Power Cycle the Printer:
    • Keep the printer turned on.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and then to the printer.
    • Turn on the printer and check if it responds.
  2. Firmware Updates:
    • Ensure the printer has the latest firmware. Outdated firmware can cause issues.
    • Check for firmware updates on the HP Support website. Enter your printer model to find available updates.
  3. Connection Check:
    • Confirm that the printer is correctly connected to the computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
    • If using Wi-Fi, ensure your printer and computer are on the same network.
    • For wireless setup, use the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.

Perform an All-in-One Printer Restart

  1. Restart Printer and Clear Any Print Jobs:
    • Open the printer queue from your computer’s control panel.
    • Cancel all pending print jobs.
    • Restart your computer.

Hard Reset the Printer

  1. Perform Hard Reset:
    • With the printer on, unplug the power cord for the printer and the wall outlet.
    • Wait 60 seconds.
    • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds before reconnecting.

Reinstall Printer Software

  1. Uninstall and Reinstall:
    • Remove the existing printer software from your computer.
    • Download and install the latest version of HP Smart from the HP website or your device’s app store.

Check for Error Messages

  • Ensure there are no error messages on the printer display such as paper jams or low ink warnings. Resolve any such issues indicated on the touchscreen.

StTest with Another Device

  • Try printing from a different device (e.g., a smartphone or another computer) to determine if the issue is with the printer or the original device.

I hope this helps.
