Hi @Imfoneman,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you have replaced the cartridge with a genuine HP ink cartridge and are still experiencing errors, it's possible that there could be a hardware issue with your HP Envy 7855 printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the new ink cartridge is properly installed. Ensure that you've removed any protective tapes or seals from the cartridge and that it is securely clicked into place.
- Clean the Contacts: Sometimes, dust or residue can accumulate on the cartridge contacts or printer contacts, preventing proper communication. Gently clean both the cartridge contacts and the printer contacts using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab and a bit of isopropyl alcohol.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset the printer's internal settings.
- Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Envy 7855 printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve communication issues.
- Perform a Hard Reset: A hard reset can help clear any temporary glitches. To do this, turn off the printer, disconnect all cables, including the power cord, and leave it disconnected for a few minutes. Then, reconnect everything and turn the printer back on.
- Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages or codes on the printer's display or on your computer screen. These can provide more specific information about the issue.
Remember to handle ink cartridges and the printer with care to avoid any damage during troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
