Envy Photo 7130
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I've come across this issue that I've been struggling with for about a week and has left me unable to print during this time.

I have an Envy Photo 7130 that I purchased around Christmas time and decided to sign up for Instant Ink.

I signed up on January 9th (with 4 months free) and the cartridges were sent as normal and used these to replace the single-use cartridges that were supplied with the printer.

The problem came about after about a month when an error message appeared on startup:

"Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink", and continued to pop up when I navitgated the settings.

Despite this, when I use the HP Smart Desktop or Mobile App they both inform me that the printer is, in fact, enrolled however no pages have been printed.

I have tried resetting the printer to its Factory Settings and resetting the Network Settings but nothing has worked thus far. A solution would be much appreciated since there doesn't seem to be one online at all, and without Instant Ink I will most likely stop using HP Products entirely.

Thanks in advance,

andyfox1908

Hey there! @andyfox1908

Have you checked if the printer is online and connected to the internet?

Please try connecting the printer to the network.

Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges on the printer.

If the printer is online and if it's enrolled, then I would suggest here is to update the printer.

In order to update the printer, On the printer control panel - Setup - Printer Maintenance - Update the printer.

Once done, restart the printer and then check.

If you see this message when you ARE enrolled, then there may be a problem with the cartridge or with the printer enrollment.
Go to Instantink.com and click the link to Sign In, which is located at the top right of the page, or under the 3 horizontal lines if you are on a mobile device.
If you are able to log in, then you do have an account.
Click the Printer Details link under the printer name to check the serial number of the enrolled printer and make sure it matches the printer you are using

Connect the printer and try rebooting the devices -

1) Turn off the Router, Printer, and computer/ mobile devices.
2) Wait for 60 seconds.
3) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.
4) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.
5) Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.

I have attempted all of these fixes and nothing has worked.

I would try deactivating and reactivating the account since I don't mind losing the free months at this point, but then the cartridges I do have will be obsolete.

Is there any way I can use this as a solution?

@andyfox1908,

The message “Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink” means you are using an Instant Ink cartridge but are not enrolled in the service.  You will need to either enroll in Instant Ink or buy regular HP cartridges to resume printing.
Click the Printer Details link under the printer name to check the serial number of the enrolled printer and make sure it matches the printer you are using.
