I had the same issue. After changing the router, when I tried to change the SSID and password, the WiFi info, the LCD touch screen became iresponsive. I rebooted, but recycling the power, but it stopped after reaching the fourth dot.
I tries you suggestion and also any other options I could think about, not success.
I called your support team and they wanted to to hard reset where it was going to affect the identity of the printer and the contract I have relating to cartridge. I was a little bit in doubt if I should do it and fortunately I had to go and asked your support to wait for another time.
I switched off, disconnected the power of the printer, I believe, and then after four hours when I come back when I reboot. all went well!
so the third solution is to go through what you recommended, or perhaps even not to do so, and switch it off for for some hours.
it might deal with the bug in the software/hardware when the configuration or some parameters changes.

Having the same problem wiht Envy Photo 6255, nothing helps.
Worked for 2 weeks. Nothing changed today - printer said it was online, phone and computer app said it was offline (which happens every 2-3 days) so I disconnected it from power and reconnected it.
Been stuck on the 4th dot ever since.
Whats the big secrete with how to do the reset? why can't you just post it here once for everyone to find? I'm the 4th person on this thread who now has to wait for someone to be generous enough to send me these hidden ways in a private message...
Anyways - can you please help?

Hard reset probably removes all the data associated with printer where hp can identify the printer. And if tou have had e.g instant inj then someone from hp needed to configure it again. So it would be better if the hard reset, if needed, to be implemented throught instructions by ho tecnicians throught the phone.

Sorry to say, it seems that this issue goes away after unplugging the printer for a few hours.
If you need to print now - you are out of luck. I tried everything for over a day, nothing helped except unplugging it for a few hours and then plugging it back in.
If this happens to me 1 more time, this printer is going back to Costco. No one, including HP support can help you with this, except waiting a few hours.

i have the same HP Envy photo 7130
it was rebooting after software/ firmware, whatever they name it, staying at fourth dot.
i had to switch it off for hours and then to come back.
i lived with it.
now today it had another software update by incompetence software developers in HP.
it came with colour cartridge problem. To be reseated.
i did same error, then losts wifi. Then i switched off and on again. It printed one page then the same colour cartridge, sent by HP, error. I reseated, no chance. I rebooted. It stopped at fourth dot. 100pounds and getting a rubbish printer.
last time i said, live with it. Tomorrow I will officially ask to refund me. I do not want to get anyprinter from HP.
i go to library and get printer from reputable printers like xerox, not irresponsible HP.

So - another update came out while I was away. The printer dropped off the wi-fi after the update was installed, trying to reboot it got it stuck on the 4th dot again.
No wi-fi, not booting up, no one can use the printer until I was back.
Unplugged it for a few hours, plugged it back in - works like a charm.
Anyone from HP willing to address the reliability issues of this printer? This is ridiculous!

Dear all,
please so not waste your tume here, unless your printer is out of warrant and need to fix it.
my printer is under warranty and the best course if action is to call HP. Indeed it is the only route even if you are an IT prifessional. I have received many emails, classified as private from thise claimed to be HP rep, but nothing cane out of it after getting all my personal information.
i believe here is a source of for developers to have the issues being posted. It does not help customer, only fill the big data into their database to play with.
just contact HP team through phone, if you are lucky enogh if your printer is still under warranty. So not stick to my or other person’s advice. You need solution. Not advice of people whose system, software, hardware, they have no informtion or clue

Dear All,
I have Envy Photo 7134. A year ago it was hanging after reboot. It was stopping when it was rebooting at the third or fourth dot. I did everything I could. Reset, hard reset... nothing worked. The problem disappeared when I was offered a replacement. All I can say is that in my case there could have been an hardware issue. Either some batch of the same model has this issue, which may be hardware or software issue or whatever it was, the problem is disappeared.
So if you printer is under warranty, call HP and do whatever they say. They will replace it if it is not solved. Even if you are IT person you cannot solve it with resets if the issue is internal. Do not rely in this Forum aline. It can in best guide you to what may help. You may not get in depth technical advise here. My simple advise is calling HP. They are friendly and they will deal with it. No technical people are here, those who are they have no formal authority. Deal HP issue with HP customer services. For under warrant items it is free.
