Up until a recent HP update, my printer never went to sleep. Now, after it goes to sleep it will not reconnect to my laptop via wireless network unless I shut down and restart the printer. Is there a setting that I am missing to get around this? I shouldnt have to restart the printer every time. Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you try using a TCP/IP port?
Create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
This video resource will show you how to do it:
Create & Use TCP IP port
Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
Hope that helps!

Do I need to repeat these steps for all the devices that connect to this printer? and if so, how do I do this for non-windows devices?. I have 2 macs , 2 ipads, 2 iphones and one pc that print to this printer and have the same issue with all of them... after a while the printer goes to sleep and the only way to print wirelesly is to re-start the printe.

Hi,
For Mac, you can try the following method:

I can't believe I have to go through all this configuration mess on each of my devices. I never had this issue with my Epson printer. HP definitely missed the mark on this. I hope they make newer printers easier to use.
