I'm almost ready to print wirelessly, but... I can't feed in the wireless network password (all #'s)!

Thlee printer screen has upper and lower case letters, also numbers. The numbers are grouped (eg 12 is for either1 or 2, 34 is for either 3 or 4, 56 is for either 5 or 6 etc.) No matter how many times, I or others type in the numeric password, the printer reports that it is imvalid.

I've checked with Internet wireless, also verified correct network password in Network Connections/Security tab, have wireless all set up and ready to go, wireless network running, identified on the printer, but can't get past this step!

Is there a malfunction with this screen?

Thanks for ANY help or ideas folk may have...

Susan

Hi @Guernsey,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. As I understand you are having issues entering wireless password on your HP Envy 4520 printer.  Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

I would suggest here is to start off by performing a restore network defaults on the printer.

From the printer control panel, touch ( Wireless ), and then touch ( Settings )

Scroll down to the last option which is Restore network defaults.

Once you have followed the on-screen instructions as this will set the printer to defaults. I would once again follow the instructions to run the Wireless setup wizard and then setup the printer.

For more additional steps, please follow this link: HP Printers - Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password (Windows)

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would suggest the next step would be to perform an advanced reset on the printer. I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile,

Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely,

Thank you so much for stepping me through resetting the printer control panel.

That seemed successful but the test page was only partial, with only blue printing.

When I then went through the wireless network wizard, the wireless network password failed again. I know this 9-digit password number is correct as confirmed by my Internet provider, also by locating it on my wireless network connections Security tab. Note that occasionally a number will display as the 2nd number from the printer control panel button (eg a "0" instead of the usual "9" on the 90 button, or a "6" instead of the usual "5" on the 56 button).

Cheers, Susan

Hi @Guernsey,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue with the touchpad issue. Let's try to update the firmware on the printer, If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update for your printer. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/EN4520_R1617B.exe

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would personally suggest this could be a possible hardware failure. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for available service related options.

If your product is out of warranty, please choose paid to get the tech support number.
