My OfficeJet 4655 printer has a blank blue lit screen. I would like to erase the memory in this printer but I cannot do that without having some options on that screen. Does anyone know how to get it to come on?

Hi @Redhead14, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet 4655 has a blank, blue-lit screen, it may be frozen or have a firmware issue. Try these steps:

1. Power Reset (Hard Reset)

  1. Unplug the printer from the power source while it is turned on.
  2. Wait 60 seconds to drain residual power.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds (if available).
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check if the screen responds. If not, proceed to the next step.

2. Try a Factory Reset (Using Button Combinations)

Since your screen is blank, use a key combination reset:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Press and hold the Back (↩) button and Power button together.
  3. While holding the buttons, plug the printer back in and keep holding for 10–15 seconds.
  4. Release the buttons and see if the screen turns on.

If this works, navigate to:
Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults

3. Firmware Update (If Screen Still Won’t Work)

Your printer may be stuck due to outdated firmware.

  1. Download HP Firmware Update Utility from HP Support
  2. Install it on your computer and run the update with the printer connected via USB.

Let me know if you need more guidance! 😊
