Hi @issuesoflife,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error 17 on the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw typically indicates a paper jam in the printer. To clear this error, you can follow the troubleshooting steps below.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Allow it to sit for a few minutes.
  2. Open all the paper trays and check for any jammed paper. Gently remove any visible paper or paper fragments.
  3. Next, open the printer's rear access panel or rear door, if applicable, and check for any jammed paper. Remove any paper you find.
  4. Close all the paper trays and the rear access panel securely.
  5. Plug in the printer and turn it on.
  6. Check the printer's display for any specific error message related to the paper jam. Follow the instructions on the display to clear the jam.
  7. If the error persists, try resetting the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for a couple of minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
