Hi @issuesoflife,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error 17 on the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw typically indicates a paper jam in the printer. To clear this error, you can follow the troubleshooting steps below.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Allow it to sit for a few minutes.
- Open all the paper trays and check for any jammed paper. Gently remove any visible paper or paper fragments.
- Next, open the printer's rear access panel or rear door, if applicable, and check for any jammed paper. Remove any paper you find.
- Close all the paper trays and the rear access panel securely.
- Plug in the printer and turn it on.
- Check the printer's display for any specific error message related to the paper jam. Follow the instructions on the display to clear the jam.
- If the error persists, try resetting the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for a couple of minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
