My Hp printer model MFP M28w, after changing new toner 48a (2020) year. facing error 17. Can I know, what is the problem? Old toner 48a (2018) year.

If you insert your old toner in, do you still get the error message?  Could you share a picture of the error.

Hi, Thanks for replying, i already inside the old toner, no problem at all. Only new toner that is Manufacturing on the year 2020. My old toner is on the year 2018.

Error 17 is usually a document scanner error.  With the new toner installed, can you print?  Can you copy?  If you can print,  upgrading printer firmware may clear scanner error.  Be advised, firmware upgrade may restrict use of third party toner.

I see that you are not able to print due to this error. Are you using an HP ink toner?

Error 17 means, the toner cartridge has been protected on another printer or is an unauthorized toner cartridge.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - 'Install Black Cartridge' Displays

Hi, KUMAR0307, yes, I am very sure, I am using authorized toner. But went i am using old toner that is from the years 2018, no problem, new toner year 2020, facing error 17. No idea at all.

If you have tried the steps mentioned in my previous post and the error persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
