Hi @ShawnIAm

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing event code issue with your HP printer.

Check for obstructions in the carriage path to make sure the carriage path is not blocked.

  1. With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. If your printer has a battery, remove the battery.
  3. Open the door to access the carriage inside of the printer.

Examples of carriage access doors

  1. Look in the carriage path for debris such as crumpled paper or dislodged labels, and then remove any that you find.

Example of a printer with debris in the carriage path

View inside a printer showing crumpled paper in the carriage path causing a carriage jam

  1. If the carriage on your printer has a latch, make sure it is closed.
  2. Use your hand to move the carriage to each side, making sure it moves freely. If the carriage is stalled or docked to one side of the printer and you cannot move it, continue with these steps.
  3. Close the carriage access door.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn the printer on.

Reset the printer

An error might continue to display after the jam is cleared. To clear the error state, reset the printer, connecting the power cord directly to a wall outlet to make sure the power source is stable and prevent more carriage jams.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

@Treeko :

In order of the advice provided:

1.) The carriage path is completely clear of obstructions and debris, however this does not seem to resolve things.

2.) Resetting the printer using the instructions provided had no effect.

3.) Attempting to update firmware on the device says the server is busy or not available. Changing the DNS settings on the printer network settings had no effect. Attempting to update the printer from Windows using the latest firmware update file keeps me from updating said firmware, saying the printer is 'busy'.

Any other ideas?

Hi @ShawnIAm

Thank you for writing back.

I suggest you reinstall the driver and connect the printer to check if that fixes the issue.

You can follow the steps under this link to uninstall.

Furthermore, you can reinstall using HP Smart App from this link.

Treeko,

Sadly, this did not resolve the issue either, and I am still having the error in question on the printer, and am unable to update firmware on the printer using the support download. Maybe this hardware is in need of servicing?
