Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283cdw

This printer is stuck on an infinite restart loop after displaying "79 Service Error Turn off then on". None of the steps online seem to fix the issue. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Hi @gpoulson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Error 79 Service Error" on an HP M283cdw printer typically indicates a firmware error or a problem with the printer's network settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
  • If the error persists, check if there is any pending print job in the print queue on the computer that may be causing the issue. Clear the print queue and try printing again.
  • If the problem persists, try updating the printer firmware to the latest version. Visit the HP website, search for your printer model, and download the latest firmware version. Follow the instructions to install the firmware update.
  • Check if the printer is connected to the network properly. Ensure that the printer is connected to the correct network and has a stable network connection. You can also try resetting the network settings on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
