Hi @Jane250,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the error code B86068C2 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e typically indicates a firmware or hardware issue with the printer. This can sometimes be resolved with a reset or a firmware update, but if the problem persists, it might require more advanced troubleshooting.
Here's what you can try:
1. Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website and downloading the latest firmware for your model.
3. Check for Hardware Issues:
- Make sure there are no paper jams, obstructions, or loose parts inside the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and check if the cartridges are properly seated.
4. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings:
- If the issue persists, try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes resolve deeper issues but will also erase any customized settings:
- Go to the Setup menu on the printer’s touchscreen.
- Select Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
5. Reinstall Printer Software:
- Uninstall the printer software from your computer.
- Download the latest drivers and software for your printer from the HP website and reinstall it.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
