HP Officejet Pro 8620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good Afternoon,

My Officejet Pro 8620 has stopped working, it is less than one and a half years old. :indifferent:

Could you please help me rectify the defect in your product? :Crying:

There is a blue screen on the touchscreen (photo attached.) and the error code 068cc413 is displayed. :robotsad:

I have searched forums but could not find any information or support from HP on this subject matter.

If you could revert to me with a solution that would be much appreciated. :generic:

@Quickpark

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting blue screen error on the printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • When did this issue start?
  • Did you do any changes to the printer?

Meanwhile

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

You can refer this HP Document to update the printer firmware: https://hp.care/2rwXUxq

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

I tried your fix, and it did not work.  Is there any other fix to this issue?

Hello, SandyTechy,

I got the same error code and your fix above does not work, and the firmware updater can't find the device (HP OfficeJet 8260 E-AIO). My OS: Mac High Sierra 10.13.6

Here's the background: I was about to print a document, when I saw an error code on the screen saying that one of the print cartridges was damaged and needed to be removed, but there was no indication of which cartridge (they are all HP cartridges). I opened the front cover, but there was still no way to identify the damaged cartridge. So I tried power cycling, but the printer stalled during shut-down. After several minutes of waiting for it to shut down, I finally turned off the power strip it was plugged into to try a hard reboot. I was upon turning the power strip back on that this error code 068CC413 displayed. Several more attempted power cycles have failed to re-set it. Is the printer essentially dead, or do I need to take it to a service center? There isn't one within a 100 miles of my location (El Cerrito, zip code 94530)....

Hi @AnthonyV

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try these steps -

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Have a great day!
