HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello there,

I have bought this printer a longer time ago. When starting, the error 49 occured directly. I thought it was potential missing drivers, but I hadnt the fitting USB cable.

Now I have it - and the printer doesnt even connect.

I never used the printer once.

Is there any solution for my problem?

Thank you very much

@SahoG, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The error code 49 on HP LaserJet printers usually indicates a firmware or communication issue with the device. Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve an error 49 on the HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe printer:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for at least 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can reset the error temporarily.

Check for Conflicting Print Jobs:

  • Clear any print jobs queued on your computer or network that might be conflicting with the printer operation.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure all cables are securely connected and not damaged.

Check Network or USB Settings:

  • Verify if your network settings or USB connections are correct and operating normally.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
