RE: HP Officejet Pro 9015 - 18 months old.

In the last month or so my printer stops running and shows error code B305DFF1. This happens randomly, sometimes several times per day. My printer driver and firmware are both up to date. I have tried the recommended procedure of removing all ink cartridges, unplugging, etc. to reset the printer but this error keeps returning.

1) What is the exact meaning/root cause of error B305DFF1?

2) Does this error indicate a hardware or software issue?

3) If it's a software issue, can HP issue a software update to correct this issue?

I am having the same problem with my HP OfficeJet Pro 9015.  Error code B305DFF9 appears on the screen with a power symbol.  How do I solve this?

Thank you.

I am having the same problem except I have an Office Jet Pro 9025 and my error message in B305DFF9. It's been happening for several weeks but has gotten much worse in the last few days.

I had to reset the printer following the steps below. The BL button shows up on the touch screen after you touch it to turn it on. You have to touch it four times quickly to access the support menu, then reset the printer. It worked for me. No blue screen errors for six days now after resetting it.

Let us try these steps:

  • Power ON the printer.
  • Press BL, BL, BL, BL Buttons, in sequence from the Home screen of the printer.
  • Touch Support Menu. Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
  • Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
  • Wait for the unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
  • Power ON the printer.

BL - Bottom left key, which is the Back/return button on your printer, it may not be lit up which is alright, tap it 4 times consecutively from the home screen of the printer to get the support menu.

What next..... this basic solution for any unknown problem is just a stall...... this appears to a very frequent problem and HP needs to find a solution and share with us..... these printers are expensive......... the ink is expensive........... can't send or have others send a print job with confidence ....... has already cost$$$$ through missed communications & or contracts

PLEASE HELP 🙏

Hi @MattThomas,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to check to get to know its hardware is faulty, not a software issue.

This is how I fixed it:

How to  reset HP OfficeJet Pro 9015

1. Touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the dashboard on the printer control panel.

2. Select “Setup” and then select “Setup” again and then select “Printer Maintenance”.

3. Select “Restore” and then select “Restore Factory Defaults

A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.
