@LaxMommy, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The printer is displaying a generic "E" error code, which typically indicates a general error or attention required. This is common on HP DeskJet, ENVY, or similar models with a basic display.

Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve it:

Check for Paper Jam or Obstruction

  • Open the input and output trays.
  • Look inside the printer for any jammed paper or foreign objects.
  • Remove any debris carefully.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Ensure cartridges are properly installed and seated.
  • If flashing lights are near the cartridge icons, one may be empty or incorrectly installed.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Reset the Printer

If the error persists:

  • Disconnect power while the printer is on.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect and power on.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Use the HP Smart app or go to HP’s support site to check for updates.

Identify Model-Specific Errors

If your printer has blinking lights or additional codes (like E1, E2, etc.).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
