Hi @MikeE55,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried some basic troubleshooting steps, which is a good start. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Restart the Printer: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can resolve temporary errors. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer, wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Open the cartridge access door and reseat each cartridge firmly into its slot. Also, check for any protective tapes or covers that may still be attached to the cartridges.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dust or debris can accumulate on the cartridge contacts, leading to communication errors. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs and improve printer performance. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website.
- Reset the Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. The method to perform a reset may vary depending on the printer model, so refer to the printer's user manual or the HP website for instructions specific to your model.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and get your printer working again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
