Hi @Katmin119,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error code 0x61000048 on the HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 typically indicates an issue related to the printer's ink system. This could be due to a paper jam, improper ink cartridge installation, or internal hardware/software issues. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the error persists.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and inspect for any stuck paper or debris.
  • Remove any obstructions carefully to avoid damaging the printer.
  • Ensure the paper tray is loaded correctly.

Inspect and Reseat the Ink Cartridges

  • Turn on the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Wait until the carriage stops moving.
  • Remove each cartridge and inspect it for:
    • Proper labeling as HP-compatible cartridges.
    • Any protective tape or packaging still attached.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their respective slots.
  • Close the door and allow the printer to reinitialize.

Clean the Printhead

  • Use the printer's control panel to navigate to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the cleaning process.

Reset the Printer

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cable from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable directly to a wall outlet (bypass any power strips).
  • Turn the printer on and check if the error clears.

Update the Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your printer model (OfficeJet Pro 6968) and download the latest firmware.
  • Install the firmware using your computer.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool on your computer.
  • Follow the tool's instructions to diagnose and resolve issues.

Factory Reset the Printer (if necessary)

  • Access the printer's control panel.
  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Settings.
  • Follow the prompts to reset the printer. (Note: This will erase custom settings.)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
