Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The error code 0xb300d006 keeps appearing on my HP envy 4520, powering on an off seems to clear it but it reappears sometime later when the device is idle.

The issue has only started occurring within the last month.

It would be great if HP could firstly define what this error code means and under what circumstances it occurs, and advise if there is a known (permanent) solution.

Please don't recommend a power reset or firmware update (I am running the latest version), they are just temporary workaround solutions.  Thanks in advance.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I understand the 0XB error on the printer screen. OXB error indicates a firmware issue. We can perform factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Thank you Echo_Lake, I have performed the factory reset and will monitor the printer over the next week or so to determine if it has resolved the issue, before accepting as a solution. Cheers

Hi mate.

Here are the instructions I was given:

Let's perform a semi-full reset on the printer, the reset will restore the printer to default settings.

  • Press the Power button to turn the Printer On.
  • Press BL, BL, BL, BL (Bottom left icon. The “return” icon which may not be highlighted. Look very closely to find it and tap on it 4 times) Buttons, in sequence.
  • Touch Support Menu.
  • Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
  • Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
  • Wait for the unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
  • Press the Power button to turn the Printer ON

Be prepared to setup the printer again  from scratch. This resolved the issue for me.

good luck!
