Hi @Celia0011,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code E3 on your HP DeskJet 2710e indicates a paper jam or a carriage stall issue. Since you've already checked for paper jams and found none, here are some additional steps you can take to try and clear this error:

Steps to Resolve Error Code E3 on HP DeskJet 2710e:

Check Paper Path:

  • Open the input tray and inspect the entire paper path, including the output tray, for any small pieces of paper that may be stuck or debris that could be causing a blockage.
  • Carefully remove any obstructions found.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.
  • Check if the error code E3 persists after the printer restarts.

Reset the Printer’s Print Mechanism:

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer’s print mechanism can resolve carriage issues.
  • Open the printer cover and wait for the carriage to move to the center of the printer.
  • Once the carriage is idle and silent, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer while it is still turned on.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer.
  • Close the printer cover and turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on.

Ensure Carriage Moves Freely:

  • Manually move the carriage to check if it moves freely from one side of the printer to the other.
  • If the carriage is stuck or does not move freely, there may be an obstruction that needs to be cleared or the printer may require service.

Inspect and Clean the Rollers:

  • Paper feed issues can sometimes be caused by dirty or worn rollers.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the rollers. Rotate them upwards with your fingers to clean all the way around.
  • Allow the rollers to dry completely before reinserting paper and testing the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP DeskJet 2710e printer.
  • Download and install any updates following the instructions provided.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
