Error code B86DC646 keeps coming up on the screen preventing me from printing anything. I tried resetting it, unplugging it, and nothing has worked

Hi @Tacotaco421,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error codes on printers can be frustrating, but they often have specific meanings that can help diagnose the issue. The error code you provided, B86DC646, seems to be specific to HP printers.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website. Sometimes, firmware updates fix known issues and bugs.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if you can't see any paper jammed in the printer, open all the access doors and check for any tiny shreds of paper that might be stuck inside. Use a flashlight if necessary.
  • Inspect Ink Cartridges: Make sure all ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no obstructions preventing them from moving freely. Also, check if any cartridges are low on ink or need replacement.
  • Reset Printer: Perform a semi-full or full reset of the printer. Instructions for this can usually be found in the printer's manual or on the HP website. Be aware that a full reset may erase some settings, so you might need to set them up again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
