Hi @Flacany3

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E5 error code on an HP Envy 6455e printer typically indicates an issue with the ink cartridge or the printhead. This error could be caused by several factors, including improperly installed ink cartridges, an issue with the cartridge connections, or a malfunction with the printhead.

Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the E5 error:

1. Check and Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridges carefully.
  • Check for any protective tape or packaging that might still be on the cartridges.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the contacts on both the ink cartridges and inside the printer where the cartridges sit.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and make sure they are properly seated and clicked into place.
  • Close the access door and plug the printer back in.
  • Turn the printer on and check if the error persists.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the error code goes away.

3. Check for Ink Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure you’re using the correct ink cartridges that are compatible with your HP Envy 6455e. Using third-party or non-HP cartridges may sometimes lead to errors.
  • If you recently replaced the cartridges, try replacing them with new or original HP ink cartridges to rule out any compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.
