My HP Photosmart 5510 keeps on displaying the message "Printhead problem, printhead is damaged" even after replacing the print head.

I tried several methods to reset the printer, but it doesn't help.

Is there a way to remove this message to restart the printer?

@Bever6, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Photosmart 5510 printer is displaying a "Printhead problem, printhead is damaged" message even after replacing the printhead, here are some steps you can follow to attempt to resolve the issue:

Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Ensure that the printhead is correctly installed and the ink cartridge access door is closed.
  • Remove the printhead; clean the electrical contacts gently using a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the printhead securely into the carriage.

Clean Electrical Contacts:

  • Clean both the contacts on the printhead and inside the printer.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure all the ink cartridges are seated correctly. Sometimes the issue can arise from improper installation.
  • Ensure that you're using original HP cartridges as non-HP cartridges could cause compatibility i

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

The given solutions are all standard solutions I already tried.

The Photosmart 5510 has no replaceable print head, so "reinstall the printhead is not that easy". It seems to me that the error message got stuck, it is displayed directly after power on.
