HP Officejet 6600

I’m getting a printer failure message when I turn it on. It says “There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP”.

I’ve turned in on and off multiple times. Also plugged it into the wall instead of the power strip. I also swapped out the ink cartridges. Any idea how to fix this?? So frustrated that this started right when I need to bring Christmas mailing labels.

Thank you!!!

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

Let's reset the Printer here:

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  7. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  8. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  9. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  10. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-6600-e-all-in-one-printer-series-h711/4322968/docu...

Hi Betty - I already found those instructions and I’m still getting the error message after going through them. What would you recommend next?
