Starting today, get this error message when I attempt to print on OfficeJet 6700 from MacBook Pro. My other printer (a Brother Laserjet) works just fine; the HP printer worked fine yesterday.

OK, managed to fix it by:
1. Downloading HP Smart
2. Restarting the printer (unplugging everything and plugging back on), after which it got correctly detected by HP Smart.
3. Deleting the printer and scanner in System Preferences
4. Setting up the printer using HP Smart (you may have to give it some time until the old printer is no longer found)
A PAIN IN THE NECK!

Thanks -- I went through uninstall and reinstall process using the HP EasyScan download. Now when I go to print, I get an identical-looking error message , except instead of "Inkjet4.drive" it is "Matterhorn". When you view the file, you can see it was installed at the same time as the reinstall. Further suggestions?

I've spent the last 2 days with constant popup relating to HP software.
This is how I fixed it. I disabled HP Product Research Manager.app & HP Device Monitor Manager.app login items. I did this through Clean My Mac software. So that got rid of those two pop ups.
I still couldn't print so I uninstalled HP software, again using Clean My Mac so everything was deleted. I then went into System Preferences and deleted the printers. I re-installed the HP software {Easy Scan etc] from the HP website. It took me through adding the printers back in system preferences. Fingers crossed ... everything seems to be working now!

Same thing started today. Other than the message above, I am also getting the message "commandthop.filter will damage your computer". I was able to print a printer test page, that bypasses the driver, but nothing else. Does it mean that I have malware on my computer, or that Catalina interprets the legitimate HP driver as malware?

Having the same problem with an Office Jet 6500. It was working yesterday just find and today it started having these error messages. Reinstalled all drivers and now I get a new error "Filter failed." Good times!
