I have a LaserJet M234.

i just set it up and it’s giving me an error 11. I have two toner cartridges, one that I bought and one that came with the printer. They are both 134As. I have tried both the toner cartridges with no luck. I have checked for any packing or tape left on the cartridges. I have tried resetting it. I have tried every online solution to fix it.

I promise you, I absolutely promise you that I have tried every solution I’ve seen on this support site and nothing stops it from flashing the cartridge light and giving me an error 11

I just bought this thing and the toner cartridge, and it cost me a hefty amount of money just for nothing to work. How am I supposed to fix this thing?

Hi @LaserUser234 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP LaserJet MFP M234dw printer! An "Error 11" typically indicates an issue with the toner cartridge, even if you’ve already tried both cartridges.

Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps to consider:

Troubleshooting Steps for Error 11

Inspect the Cartridges:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or foreign objects inside the toner cartridge slot.
  • Examine the toner cartridge for any physical damage or defects.
  • Make sure that the toner cartridge is seated correctly. Remove it and then reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place.

Check the Contacts:

  • Clean the electrical contacts on both the toner cartridge and the printer with a soft, dry cloth. Dust or debris can cause communication issues.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. You can do this by visiting the HP support website and entering your printer model.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If you have access to another toner cartridge (even a different brand), try it to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
