@Jay90ii, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds before plugging the power cord back in.
  4. Turn the printer on again.
  5. Check if the error persists.

Check for Paper Jams

  1. Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams inside the paper path, around the ink cartridges, and in the output tray.
  2. If you find any jammed paper, carefully remove it. Make sure to remove any small torn pieces that could cause further jams.

Inspect and Reinstall the Cartridges

  1. Open the printer’s cover and carefully remove the ink cartridges.
  2. Reinstall the cartridges securely, ensuring they click into place.
  3. Ensure each cartridge is properly seated and fully locked in position.

Check for Protective Tape on Cartridges

  1. If you're using new cartridges, ensure that there is no protective tape or seal on them.
  2. Remove any tape or seals if they are present before reinstalling the cartridges.

Inspect for Cartridge Damage

  1. Examine the ink cartridges for any visible damage, such as cracks or leaks.
  2. If you find damaged cartridges, replace them with new ones.

Check the Paper Tray

  1. Remove the paper tray and check the paper alignment.
  2. Ensure the paper guides are adjusted correctly to match the size of the paper.
  3. Make sure the paper is properly loaded and not bent or curled.

Inspect and Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the printer to access the paper feed rollers.
  3. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or rubbing alcohol to clean the rollers.
  4. Allow the rollers to dry completely before plugging the printer back in.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  3. Turn the printer back on.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  2. Check if there is an available firmware update.
  3. If there is, download and install the latest firmware version to ensure your printer is up to date.

Clean Cartridge Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printer using a lint-free cloth.
  3. Avoid touching the nozzles of the cartridges while cleaning.

Test with Different Paper

  1. Try using different paper to rule out issues with paper type (e.g., thickness or quality).
  2. Ensure you are using paper that meets the printer’s specifications.

Check for Hardware Issues

  1. Look for any loose or damaged parts in the printer.
  2. Inspect the paper feed mechanism and other components for visible signs of malfunction.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
