Approximately every 48 hours the printer goes off-line with all yellow lights flashing. I’m able to power off and back on and it’ll work again for another 48 hours and keep repeating the same thing ink cartridges have been replaced recently, so that’s not it.  does anyone have any suggestions to fix?

Hi @Robertpark1

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is experiencing an intermittent issue where it goes offline every 48 hours, and the yellow lights start flashing. Since you've already replaced the ink cartridges and the problem persists, let's look into some potential causes and solutions for this recurring issue.

1. Check for Network Connection Issues

Wi-Fi Connectivity: One of the most common reasons for a printer going offline is intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity. This could be due to signal interference, weak signal strength, or network instability.

  • Solution: Check the Wi-Fi signal strength at the printer’s location. If the signal is weak, try moving the router or the printer closer to improve the connection.
  • You can also try connecting the printer via Ethernet if it has an Ethernet port to rule out Wi-Fi issues entirely.

Check for IP Address Conflicts: If your printer is using a static IP, ensure there are no IP conflicts on your network.

  • Solution: Set your printer to Obtain IP address automatically from your router (using DHCP) rather than assigning a static IP. This avoids conflicts if the router assigns the same IP address to multiple devices.

2. Printer’s Power Settings

  • Some printers go into a sleep mode or a deep sleep after a certain amount of inactivity, and it could be having trouble waking up properly, which might explain why it works after power cycling.
    • Solution: Check the printer’s sleep settings in the menu and set the printer to wake up automatically if possible.

3. Firmware and Software Updates

  • If the printer's firmware or the software controlling it is outdated, it can cause various glitches like this.
    • Solution: Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website to check for and install the latest firmware updates for your printer model.
    • Similarly, make sure that any relevant software or drivers on your computer (e.g., HP Smart) are updated to the latest versions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
