My D7160 has been a trusty and problem free ;printer for years but the other day I bought a new Magenta 02 style cartridge that has an expiration date of 2020. When I put it in the printer though the printer refuses to recognize that date and says the cartridge is expired. The printer has always used genuine HP ink and this new cartridge is no exception. Tried reinserting it but still same message. Any idea what gives? Cartridges are too expensive to just toss.

This is almost embarssing to relate but here is what happened. We read the date off the box and it was August 2020 and assuming the cartridge was August 2020 we plugged it in. Later we figured out what happened. The HP box with the cartridge we got from Amazon had been opened and a 2011 cartridge in original clear packing swapped in place of the correct August 2020 cartridge. So, someone made this swap and returned the cartridge to Amazon and they restocked it and unwittingly sent it to us. Amazon is replacing the order. Thank you Amazon!
