I have an 'F' on the display and the printer is stopped, I have searched the net and can't find any mention of this. A previous post was answered by the respondent claiming it was mistakenly an 'E' symbol- please be assured this is an F and not an E 🙂 Does anyone know what it means?

Hi @,Jboy117,

I'd like to help!

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Also, try the steps in the document - Blinking Lights

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi there. Sorry but I wasn’t asking how to get the printer working again, I was asking what the F symbol meant on the display as it’s not in the manual. Thanks

HP Recommended

"F" symbol has no significance on the printer, E symbols indicate an error.

Were you able to try the suggested steps?

Let me know!
