HP F2480 deskjet 3 in one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had an HP F2480 deskjet printer for quite a few years and it has always printed great.  Recently ran out of ink and have purchased genuine HP cartridges (black and colour expiry date May 2021) but the first test page only prints blue and red and black, but all very faint compared to usual.  From a document of one line, it printed green, red and blue correctly, but again, very faint.  I scanned the first test page to align as instructions and turned off printer as usual.  However,  when turning it back on, it printed another test page with same result.  Can anyone help me please?  I don't want to waste more ink by printing more test pages and I don't understand why it's so faint and lack of yellow on test page.  Many thanks.

Hi @hope4me,

I'd like to help with the print quality issue.

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try the steps in the document to resolve the print quality issue- Troubleshooting Print-Quality Issues

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
